A monsoon walk checklist for dog parents in India
Simple things to keep ready for rainy-season walks: a raincoat, a towel, a leash and a quick paw clean-up.
Before you step out
Check the weather and choose a shorter, closer route when the rain is heavy. Keep the leash short on slippery ground.
A lightweight raincoat keeps your dog's back drier. Check that it sits comfortably and does not restrict walking.
At the door
Keep a towel by the entrance. Pat the coat dry, then wipe each paw, including between the toes.
Dry the coat properly so your dog is comfortable indoors.
If something looks wrong
If you notice cuts, swelling or sore skin, stop and speak to a veterinarian. Grooming and cleaning items are not a treatment.
